Savaria Home Elevator Beep Codes: What Each One Means

Savaria Beep Codes Explained

Call (833) 865-7887  ·  Free in-home estimate

Your elevator beeps and won’t move. Here is what it means.

When you press a call button on a Savaria home elevator and the car beeps instead of moving, the beeps are a code. Short beeps on their own point to something you can usually check yourself, such as a gate or door that isn’t fully closed. A pattern that starts with a long beep is a service code, and it needs a technician.

Pick the pattern you heard to see what Savaria’s owner’s manual says it means. This table covers the Savaria Eclipse, Infinity, Infinity HD, Zenith, Vuelift and Vuelift Mini, which all use the same beep codes. If you aren’t sure which elevator you have, our guide to identifying your elevator brand shows where to find the nameplate.

If someone is stuck in the car, stay calm and read what to do if you’re stuck in a home elevator, then call us any time at (833) 865-7887.

Look up a beep code

See all six beep codes
  • 1 short beep (half a second): the car will not answer a call. Make sure the Stop switch in the car is in the Run position, and check that the car gate is closed. If it still won’t move, call us at (833) 865-7887.
  • 2 short beeps: check that the landing door is closed. If it still won’t move, call us at (833) 865-7887.
  • 3 short beeps: open and close the gate by hand. You also hear three beeps if someone opened the landing door without opening the gate. If it still won’t move, call us at (833) 865-7887.
  • 1 long beep, then 1 short beep: a service code. Savaria lists the possible causes as an overload trip, a run timer trip, an open main safety chain, a door lock fault or the auto-shutdown counter. This needs a technician; don’t open any panels. Call us 24/7 at (833) 865-7887.
  • 1 long beep, then 2 short beeps: a service code. Savaria lists a re-level shutdown or an activated low-pressure switch. This needs a technician. Call us 24/7 at (833) 865-7887.
  • 1 long beep, then 3 short beeps: a service code. Savaria lists a selector fault, a selector encoding error or a position error. This needs a technician. Call us 24/7 at (833) 865-7887.

Source: the Savaria owner’s manuals for the Eclipse, Infinity and Infinity HD, Zenith, Vuelift and Vuelift Mini (Diagnostics section), which share this table. A long beep lasts about two seconds; a short beep about half a second.

What you can safely check yourself

The short-beep codes all come down to the car being told it isn’t safe to move. Walk through these in order:

  • Is the Stop switch inside the car in the Run position?
  • Is the car gate fully closed? Open it and close it again by hand.
  • Is the landing door on every floor fully closed and latched?

That is as far as an owner should go. Don’t open panels, the controller cabinet or the hoistway, and don’t try to move the car by hand. Our home elevator troubleshooting guide covers a few more safe checks, such as the breaker and the key switch.

When a beep code means calling a technician

Any pattern that starts with a long beep, about two seconds, is a service code. Savaria’s manual sends you to your authorized dealer for these, because the causes sit inside the safety system: an overload or run-timer trip, the safety chain, a door lock, the re-leveling or pressure system, or the position sensor. Those parts protect the people riding, and a trained technician needs to find out why they tripped.

Keep the beeps from coming back

Many service codes trace back to wear that a maintenance visit catches early: door locks that drift out of adjustment, a gate switch that sticks, or a battery that no longer holds a charge. Savaria’s owner’s manual calls for maintenance by an authorized Savaria dealer at least once a year, and every six months for elevators that run a very large number of trips a day. Our maintenance plan covers the full inspection and safety-device testing, and our guide to home elevator maintenance explains what a visit includes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Savaria elevator beep and not move?

The car is telling you why it won’t run. One, two or three short beeps point to the Stop switch, the car gate or the landing door. A pattern that starts with a long beep is a service code and needs a technician.

What does 3 short beeps mean on a Savaria elevator?

Savaria’s manual says to open and close the gate by hand. You also hear three beeps if someone opened the landing door without opening the gate. If it still won’t move, call us.

Can I reset a Savaria elevator myself?

You can check the Stop switch, the car gate and the landing doors. Leave anything behind a panel to a technician, and never try to move the car by hand. Service codes that start with a long beep need a technician.

Do these codes apply to my Savaria stairlift or platform lift?

No. This table is for the Savaria Eclipse, Infinity, Infinity HD, Zenith, Vuelift and Vuelift Mini home elevators. Stairlifts and platform lifts use different signals, so call us and tell us the model.

Jaime arrived on time; however, he appeared confused as to what caused the lift to stop working. After consulting with someone “in the UK”, he recommended a replacement part. He was unable to tell me the cost of the replacement part.
