Stair Lift Installation in Orange County, CA
Straight and Curved Stairlifts
Stair lifts for Orange County homes, measured and installed by our own team
A stair lift is the simplest way to keep using the second floor, and in many Orange County houses it is the right answer. Advantage Elevator measures, installs and services stair lifts across the county from our office at 2942 Century Place in Costa Mesa. As a Savaria Elite dealer, we sell the Handicare stairlift line that Savaria carries, and we are honest when your stairs call for something else, including an elevator.
We start with a free in-home measure. You see the real rail path on your own staircase, you choose where the lift parks, and you get a written quote. We do not quote stairlift prices as facts on a web page because no two staircases are alike. They are far less than an elevator, and we give you the number after we have measured.

Straight versus curved: what decides it
A straight staircase, with one run from the bottom landing to the top, is the easy case. The rail is made to length, the installation is quick, and the lift is ready to ride soon after. Curved stairs, landings, turns and split-level steps are the harder case. They require a custom rail that is built after a precise measurement of your stairs, and that takes longer to produce.
Many Orange County houses have a mixed layout. A 1970s or 80s two-story tract home in Mission Viejo or Irvine often has a straight run to the bedrooms, which suits the K2. A Laguna Beach or Dana Point hillside house may have a staircase that turns at a landing, or several short flights between levels, which can mean a curved rail or more than one lift. We tell you plainly which case yours is.
Savaria also lists the Freecurve and the Handicare 4000 among its curved lifts. We can walk you through them if your staircase warrants it.
What to expect: measure, order, install
Free measure. A technician visits, measures the staircase, checks the clearance at the top and bottom landings, and asks who will ride and how they get on and off the seat. Weight, height and mobility matter, so we ask.
Written quote. You get the model, the rail length and the price in writing. We do not rush you.
Install. The lift runs on a battery charged from household power, so it keeps working in a power outage.
Handover. We show you the controls, the seat belt, the folding footrest and the charging points, and leave you with a number to call if anything feels wrong.
Outdoor stairs and hillside entries
Many Orange County homes have a long outdoor stair from the street or the driveway up to the front door. This is common in Laguna Beach, Dana Point, San Clemente and the hillside neighborhoods of Laguna Niguel, where the lot drops away from the road and the entry sits well above or below it. Coastal salt air and sun are hard on any equipment left outdoors.
If your stairs are exterior, call us. We will look at the stairs, the weather exposure and what can be done, and tell you honestly whether a stair lift suits the setting. An outdoor lift is a different decision than an indoor one, and we do not make promises over the phone.
Stair lift or home elevator: how to choose
The best way to decide is to be honest about who will use it and for how long.
A stair lift fits when one person needs help with a straight or gently curved staircase, a seat is acceptable, and the stairs are wide enough to leave room for everyone else. It is the smaller investment and it goes in quickly.
An elevator fits when the rider uses a wheelchair or walker, when more than one person needs to ride, when you want to carry laundry and groceries, or when needs are likely to grow. Pricing depends on the model, number of stops and construction — see what a home elevator costs. Our elevator installation page walks through the process.
There is a middle path for some homes: a compact through-floor lift or a shaftless lift. We can show you those too. We sell both stair lifts and elevators, so you will not get a push toward the more expensive product.
Service, repair and ask-us items
We repair and maintain stair lifts as well as elevators. If your lift will not charge, the seat will not swivel or the rail makes noise, call us.
If you are looking for a rental or a used stair lift, ask us. We will tell you what is available and what is not, and we will not guess on the phone.
We do not make claims about insurance or Medicare coverage. Coverage rules change, and your plan and your doctor are the right sources.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a stair lift cost in Orange County?
A stair lift costs far less than an elevator, and the price depends on the staircase. Straight stairs are the least expensive. Curved stairs need a custom rail and cost more. We give you a written quote after a free in-home measure.
How long does installation take?
A straight lift is usually installed quickly once it arrives. A curved lift needs a custom rail built from our measurements, so there is a wait for manufacturing before the install. We give you the timeline when we quote.
Will a stair lift work during a power outage?
Yes. The lift runs on a battery that is charged from household power, so it can still make trips when the grid is down. Keep it parked on its charging point.
Can I still use my stairs with a stair lift installed?
Yes. The Savaria K2 folds up so it sits only about 10.75 inches from the wall, which leaves room for others to walk the stairs.
Do you sell used or rental stair lifts?
Ask us. Availability changes, and we would rather confirm what we have than promise something we cannot deliver.
