The Savaria Vuelift: a panoramic elevator that brings its own hoistway

The Savaria Vuelift is a panoramic, self-supporting home elevator. It arrives with a factory-built hoistway and a car made of clear acrylic or low-iron glass, so you do not frame a conventional shaft. The drive is a winding drum mounted on top of the car, which means no machine room. The aircraft cable is rated above 14,000 pounds. It meets or exceeds ASME A17.1, and Savaria calls for dealer inspection twice a year.

Advantage Elevator is a Savaria Elite dealer, so we quote, install and service the Vuelift from our Carlsbad and Costa Mesa offices. A fully installed home elevator in Southern California typically runs Pricing depends on the model, number of stops and construction — see what a home elevator costs. Three Vuelift shapes for three kinds of homes

Vuelift Round

A round acrylic or Round+ Glass car with a 62 inch floor cut-out for acrylic and 65 1/8 inches for glass. The round shape reads as a design feature in a foyer or great room, and the clear walls keep the space open.

Vuelift Octagonal

A squared-off, eight-sided car that fits closer to walls and corners. Cab interiors run 44 by 42, 43 by 42 or 45 by 50 inches, the last one ADA-sized. Octagonal acrylic needs a 55 3/8 inch square cut-out; Octagonal+ needs 62 inches.

Vuelift Mini

The smallest Vuelift: a 50 inch footprint, 500 pound capacity and a 49 3/4 inch floor cut-out. It is the answer when you want the Vuelift concept in a tight space and one rider at a time is enough.

These figures come from Savaria’s published specifications. Dimensions and stops vary by model, so we confirm them on your quote after measuring.

Where a Vuelift makes sense in Southern California homes

Open-plan coastal homes. In Newport Beach, Encinitas, Del Mar and Solana Beach, living areas are built around views and light. A clear acrylic or glass car lets the elevator disappear into that space instead of walling off a stack of rooms, and you see the ocean or the garden on the way up.

Remodels where framing a shaft is a hassle. Older homes in Costa Mesa, Point Loma and Coronado are often tight, and cutting a shaft through finished rooms is expensive. The Vuelift arrives with its own hoistway, so the construction around it is smaller than for a conventional elevator.

Homes where the elevator should be a feature. Rancho Santa Fe estates, Laguna Beach view homes and La Jolla custom builds often put an elevator in a foyer or stair hall. The round and octagonal glass models are made to be seen.

If a Vuelift is more than you need, a Telecab or Luma through-floor lift may cost less. If you want a conventional, concealed shaft, compare the Eclipse and Zenith.

Finishes and design options

The frame is powder-coated, standard in black sandtex, or silver, white or grey Velvacoat, or any of 200 RAL colors. The car is low-iron glass or UV-resistant acrylic. Extra doors and a 90-degree option change how you enter and exit, and an MRL option is offered on the Mini and the Round+ Glass. See custom elevator finishes for more on matching the look to your home.

Power, space and structure

The Vuelift needs a floor cut-out sized to your model, overhead of 96 inches for the Mini or 108 inches for the other models, and a pit of a few inches up to 12 inches, or an access ramp in place of a pit. Because it is self-supporting, the structure carries its own load rather than relying on the surrounding house framing. We confirm the electrical requirements for your model on the free measure and put them in the written quote.

Two practical points. The glass models carry 950 pounds and run at 40 fpm; the acrylic models are lighter and slightly slower. And the Mini’s 50 inch footprint is a real constraint, so we measure your path before recommending it.

Warranty, installation and timeline

Savaria backs its residential products with a 36-month parts warranty through the dealer, and maintenance is required. We confirm the exact terms for the Vuelift on your written quote. Our maintenance plans give you the regular service Savaria expects, with a full inspection and safety-device testing.

Installation begins with the free estimate and measure. We prepare the floor openings, deliver the factory-built hoistway, assemble the unit, connect the power and finish with a test ride. We handle the building permit and inspection coordination with your city’s building department. Your quote includes a schedule for your model and home.

Crystal did a great job in doing the yearly maintenance work on my personal elevator. She identified why the elevator stopped working. She showed me how to make the elevator go to the ground floor if stuck midway. She vacuumed & cleaned the space on the ground floor where the elevator sits; it was so filthy most likely because it was never cleaned by previous technicians. She's very nice & calm.
