Savaria K2 Stairlift in San Diego & Orange County, CA
Straight Stairlifts, Installed Locally
A straight stairlift built for everyday use
The Savaria K2 is a straight stairlift: one rail, one seat, one climb from the bottom landing to the top. The K2 Plus is the same family with a wider seat and a higher weight rating for larger riders. Advantage Elevator is a Savaria Elite dealer, and we sell, install and service both from our offices in Carlsbad and Costa Mesa.
If your staircase runs in a single straight line, with no turns and no landing in the middle, a straight stairlift is usually the simplest and fastest way to make the second floor usable again. The K2 fits that job well. It runs on household power, rides on a rack-and-pinion rail, and folds up when nobody is using it so the stairs stay clear.
- Two models: K2 (indoor, with an outdoor package for moderate climates) and K2 Plus (indoor, wider seat, higher capacity)
- 36-month warranty against defective parts, through your local dealer, with regular maintenance required
- Quoted after a free in-home measure so the rail matches your actual staircase

K2 or K2 Plus: how to choose
Start with the rider. If the person using the lift is of average build and wants the smallest folded footprint, the K2 is the better fit. If the rider is larger, wants a wider seat, or may need the extra capacity down the road, the K2 Plus is the right call.
Then look at the staircase. The folded depth is the number that decides whether the lift leaves enough room for others to walk past. On the K2, the folded unit stays within about 11 inches of the wall. On the K2 Plus with the Plus seat it is about 14 3/4 inches. We take both measurements on your actual stairs during the free in-home measure.
Finally, think about where the stairs are. The outdoor package is available on the K2 only. The K2 Plus is indoor only.
Where the K2 fits in Southern California homes
The homes we see most often in San Diego and Orange County are two-story tract houses from the 1970s and 1980s, with a straight run of stairs from the entry up to the bedrooms. Those staircases are usually carpeted or wood, with a wall on one side. That is the classic straight-stairlift job, and the K2 handles it cleanly.
In coastal multi-level homes in places like Encinitas, Laguna Beach and Dana Point, you often find a straight flight between two levels, with a door or landing at the top or bottom. If a door swings across the foot of the stairs, we check the clearance during the measure, and we will tell you plainly if another model handles that landing better.
Outdoor entry stairs on hillside lots are a different problem, and the K2 outdoor package was designed for it. It adds a stainless-steel rack, zinc hardware, a UV-resistant seat, radio-frequency remotes, a weather cover and an upgraded battery. Savaria rates it for moderate climates, which describes our coast. We will look at your stairs, the exposure and the run before recommending it.
Installation and service in San Diego and Orange County
We install and service stairlifts in both counties. A technician visits your home, measures the stairs and the landings, and confirms the model, seat and rail options before anything is ordered. Once the rail is built, installation is a careful job of mounting the rail to the stair treads, fitting the carriage and the power supply, and testing the lift through a full climb.
Service is the other half. Advantage Elevator has been in business for more than 20 years, holds California contractor license CSLB C-11 #1027832, and maintains stairlifts, home elevators and platform lifts across San Diego and Orange County. The K2 warranty requires regular maintenance, and our maintenance plans are built to meet that requirement.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Savaria K2 and K2 Plus?
The K2 Plus has a wider seat, with arms out to 24 1/4 in, and a higher residential weight rating of 400 lb. The K2 is slimmer when folded and is the model offered with an outdoor package. The K2 Plus is indoor only.
Can a K2 stairlift be used outdoors?
The K2 can, in moderate climates, with the outdoor package. That package includes a stainless rack, zinc hardware, a UV-resistant seat, radio-frequency remotes, a cover and an upgraded battery. The K2 Plus is not rated for outdoor use.
How long is the K2 warranty?
Savaria lists 36 months against defective parts, handled through your local dealer. Regular maintenance is required to keep the warranty in force.
What happens to the K2 in a power outage?
The unit runs on a 24-volt battery that charges at the top and bottom of the rail. On the K2 Plus it charges continuously along the rail. Savaria says the battery holds enough charge for several trips during an outage.
Can you measure my stairs for free?
Yes. We visit your home, measure the staircase and landings, and quote the lift after that measure. We do not give a price over the phone, because the rail is built to your stairs.
