Home Elevator Company in Carlsbad, CA
Headquartered Right Here in Town
Carlsbad is where we work from, and where our trucks start the day
Advantage Elevator is based at 5857 Owens Avenue, Suite 300, Carlsbad, CA 92008. When you call us about an elevator in La Costa, Aviara or the Village, the technician heading your way started the day a few miles off, with the parts and tools in the truck. That is a real advantage when a car is stuck between floors, and it is the reason our Carlsbad customers get the fastest response we offer.
We sell, install, repair and maintain residential elevators, stairlifts and platform lifts across the city. Carlsbad has a lot of two-story homes built in planned communities, plus beach-area lots being rebuilt tall and narrow. Both kinds of house are good candidates for an elevator.

Aviara, La Costa, Bressi Ranch and Calavera Hills
The master-planned neighborhoods that spread across the east and south of the city were built mostly from the 1980s through the 2000s, and they follow a familiar pattern. Two stories, a staircase near the entry, bedrooms upstairs, a three-car garage. Aviara and La Costa have larger estates up the hillsides, some with views over the lagoons. Bressi Ranch and Calavera Hills have newer and mid-sized homes on tidy lots.
These homes were not designed with an elevator in mind, but they are well suited to one. Closets stacked on top of each other are common, and a stacked pair of closets is the easiest place to put a shaft. The Savaria Eclipse needs no machine room, which keeps the install simple in a house where the garage and the mechanical closet are already spoken for.
Beach-area lots and the Village
Near the coast, the Village and the streets around Agua Hedionda and Buena Vista lagoons have older bungalows being replaced by taller modern homes on narrow lots. The new houses often run to three levels, and the garage sits at the bottom. A lift that moves people from the garage to the kitchen, and then to the bedrooms, makes a narrow house usable.
In older houses where a hoistway is not practical, a through-floor lift is the better answer. The Savaria Telecab covers two stops and up to 23 feet of travel. The Luma is a smaller option with a clear acrylic cab. Our Telecab page and Luma page show the details.
An established community that is aging in place
Carlsbad has about 115,000 residents, a median age of 43.5 and 18.9 percent of the population aged 65 or older. About 65 percent of homes are owner-occupied, and the median owner-occupied home value is $1,156,900, according to Census figures. That is a lot of equity in houses people intend to keep. An elevator costs a fraction of what a move would, and it keeps the family in a neighborhood they know.
We also install stairlifts for homes where an elevator is more than the situation calls for, and platform lifts for entry steps and porches. We quote those after a free measure and they cost far less than an elevator.
Coastal air and the lagoon climate
Carlsbad is a coastal city with three lagoons and a mild climate. Homes close to the water see damp air and salt on the wind, which wears door contacts and control boards faster than the same hardware would wear inland. Homes up the hill in La Costa and the southeast see less of it.
When you join a maintenance plan, we match the schedule to your location. A bluff-side home might see us twice a year. A hillside home farther from the water may need one visit.
Questions we hear, and how to reach us
Call the office or ask for a free in-home visit. We bring samples of cab finishes, measure the floors and tell you in plain language which models fit. If you already have an elevator and it is acting up, book service online or call us and we will get a technician moving. Our online booking page is the quickest way to reach us for routine visits.
Our Carlsbad customers tend to ask the same few things. Will it fit? How long will it take? Will it hold up? Fit is a matter of measuring, and we do that first. Timing depends on the model, since a shaftless lift goes in faster than a hoistway. Durability comes down to maintenance, and a plan keeps small problems small.
Pricing depends on the model, number of stops and construction — see what a home elevator costs. We have been serving Southern California for more than 20 years, and our Google rating of 4.9 stars comes from customers who still call us after the job is done.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are you really based in Carlsbad?
Yes. Our San Diego County office is at 5857 Owens Avenue, Suite 300 in Carlsbad, and our technicians dispatch from here.
How soon can a technician reach my Carlsbad home?
Emergency calls with someone inside the car are dispatched immediately. Routine breakdowns in Carlsbad are often handled the same day, and next-day is typical otherwise.
Which elevator is best for a two-story Carlsbad home?
In a typical two-story house, the Savaria Eclipse is a strong choice because it needs no machine room. If a shaft will not fit, a Telecab, Luma or Stiltz lift is the alternative. We recommend after we see the house.
Is an elevator allowed in my HOA community?
Most HOAs review exterior changes and interior structural work. We provide plans and dimensions your board can review, and we handle the permit with the city’s building department. Check your community rules first.
Do you also service elevators in neighboring cities?
Yes. Encinitas, Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos and the surrounding communities are minutes away from our office.
