The Savaria Prolift: a heavier-duty indoor lift

The Savaria Prolift is a commercial-leaning vertical platform lift for indoor use. It is built for higher capacities, longer travel and faster, heavier duty than the home-oriented lifts in the range. Savaria lists it in standard (SCL) ratings of 750, 1,000 and 1,050 pounds, an HD version at 1,050 and 1,400 pounds where code permits, and a casket lift variant. It travels from 8 inches up to 14 feet in the USA and runs at 30 feet per minute on a 3 hp hydraulic drive.

We say plainly: the Prolift is a commercial-grade lift. Most homeowners are better served by the V-1504 or the Multilift, which run on ordinary household power. We include the Prolift because customers ask, and because some property owners need it: a church hall, a school, a small office building, a large multi-use residence, or a care setting. Advantage Elevator is a Savaria Elite dealer and a licensed California elevator contractor, CSLB C-11 #1027832. Our focus is residential, and we will tell you honestly if a job is outside it.

  • Standard ratings of 750, 1,000 and 1,050 lb; HD 1,050 and 1,400 lb where code permits
  • Indoor use; Savaria lists no outdoor rating
  • Heavier power than a household circuit

Prolift versions

Standard (SCL)

The general-purpose version, rated 750, 1,000 or 1,050 pounds. It suits a public or shared building where more than one person or a heavy powered chair uses the lift.

Heavy duty (HD)

Rated 1,050 or 1,400 pounds where code permits. This is for facilities with heavy equipment or frequent use.

Casket lift

A variant built for funeral and chapel settings. Ask us before you plan around it; it is outside our usual home work.

Prolift specifications

These figures come from Savaria’s Prolift page. Because the Prolift is a commercial-grade product, confirm every figure on the spec sheet and with your local building department before design is final.

Specification Prolift
Capacity SCL 750 / 1,000 / 1,050 lb; HD 1,050 / 1,400 lb (where code permits)
Drive Hydraulic, 3 hp
Speed 30 ft/min
Travel 8 in to 14 ft (USA); 23 ft rest of Canada
Power 208 VAC three-phase, 30 A, or 230 VAC single-phase, 40 A
Pit SCL 8 in; HD 12 in
Location Indoor only (no outdoor rating listed)
Use Residential and commercial

The power requirement is the biggest difference from a home lift. Most houses have single-phase service, and a 230-volt, 40-amp circuit is a larger dedicated circuit than a household outlet. We check your panel on the visit and quote any electrical work. Savaria lists a 36-month parts warranty across its platform lifts, through the local dealer, with regular maintenance required; confirm the Prolift term on the spec sheet.

Is the Prolift right for a home?

Sometimes. A large custom home, a multi-generational property or a house used for care may have a heavier use pattern than a single wheelchair on a porch. Where several riders share one lift or the lift runs all day, a commercial-grade unit can make sense. In most other homes, the V-1504 carries 750 pounds and runs on a 120-volt, 20-amp circuit, which is less expensive to wire.

The Prolift has no outdoor rating, so it belongs inside the building: a lobby, a hall, a mezzanine, a chapel or a clubhouse. For a porch or a pool deck, look at the V-1504 Lux or the Multilift.

Where the Prolift shows up in Southern California

In San Diego and Orange County, the inquiries we get for this class of lift come from church halls in older neighborhoods, small medical or professional buildings with a mezzanine, community buildings, and large estates where a single lift serves a guest wing or a clubhouse. Older coastal commercial buildings in Oceanside, Encinitas, Huntington Beach and Costa Mesa often have a few steps at the entry or a raised floor that never met modern access needs.

If you have a building like that, tell us the use, the load and the rise. We will say whether the Prolift fits or whether a different lift or an elevator is the better answer.

Installation, permits and service

A commercial-grade lift involves more coordination than a home lift. We measure the rise and landings, review the pit and the power, and work with your design team. We coordinate the building permit with your city. We do not promise a permit outcome.

We install and service from Carlsbad and Costa Mesa. Our maintenance plan covers inspection and safety testing, and regular maintenance keeps the lift in warranty. For a breakdown, call (833) 865-7887 any hour.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Prolift for homes or commercial buildings?

It is commercial-grade and indoor only. A few large homes and care settings use it, but most homeowners are better served by the V-1504 or Multilift.

Can the Prolift be installed outdoors?

No. Savaria lists no outdoor rating, so we install it inside the building.

What power does it need?

Savaria lists 208 volts three-phase at 30 amps, or 230 volts single-phase at 40 amps. That is more than a household outlet, so we check the panel first.

How much can it carry?

The standard version is rated 750, 1,000 or 1,050 pounds, and the heavy-duty version 1,050 or 1,400 pounds where code permits.

Do you take on commercial lift jobs?

We install and service light-commercial lifts, but our focus is residential. Call us and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right fit.

Have a building that needs a heavier-duty lift?

Tell us the rise, the load and the use. Call (833) 865-7887.

Crystal did a great job in doing the yearly maintenance work on my personal elevator. She identified why the elevator stopped working. She showed me how to make the elevator go to the ground floor if stuck midway. She vacuumed & cleaned the space on the ground floor where the elevator sits; it was so filthy most likely because it was never cleaned by previous technicians. She's very nice & calm.
