Savaria Stairfriend 23 Curved Stairlift in San Diego & Orange County, CA
Custom-Built for Turns and Landings
A curved stairlift made for the staircase you actually have
The Savaria Stairfriend 23 is a curved stairlift. Where a straight stairlift runs along one line, a curved lift follows a staircase that turns, has a landing in the middle, or wraps around a corner. The rail is custom-made for your stairs, so the lift travels from the bottom landing to the top in one continuous ride. Advantage Elevator sells, installs and services the Stairfriend 23 in San Diego and Orange County.
A custom curved rail is a bigger project than a straight one, because it has to be measured, designed and built for one specific staircase. We take that seriously. A technician surveys your stairs in person, records every turn and landing, and tells you straight whether a curved stairlift is the right answer or whether another solution would serve you better.
- Double-rail rack-and-pinion system, built to your staircase
- Up to 84 ft of travel and inclines from 0 to 56 degrees
- 36-month warranty against defective parts, through your local dealer, with regular maintenance required

When you need a curved stairlift
Most Southern California homes with a curved or turning staircase fall into a few types. A straight flight with a landing and a 90-degree turn partway up. A quarter-turn at the top or bottom. A wide, sweeping stair in a custom home in Rancho Santa Fe, Newport Coast or Coto de Caza. A split-level coastal house in Laguna Beach or Del Mar where the stairs bend around a half-wall. A straight stairlift cannot follow any of these. It needs a rail that is built to the curve.
A curved rail also lets the lift park at a convenient place, so the carriage does not block a landing or a hallway. We plan the parking position during the measure, along with the swing of the seat, so the rider can step off cleanly at each end.
Installation and service in San Diego and Orange County
The process has more steps than a straight lift, and we explain each one. A technician visits your home and surveys the staircase. The rail is then designed and built to match it. When it arrives, we install the rail, fit the carriage and the power, and test the ride from top to bottom. We walk you through the controls and remotes before we leave.
Service matters more with a custom rail, because every installation is unique. Advantage Elevator holds California contractor license CSLB C-11 #1027832, has been in business for more than 20 years, and services stairlifts, home elevators and platform lifts in both counties. The warranty requires regular maintenance, and our maintenance plans are built to meet it.
Pricing is quoted after a free in-home measure, because a curved rail is custom. See also our San Diego and Orange County stairlift pages.
Frequently Asked Questions
What makes a stairlift curved?
A curved stairlift has a custom-built rail that follows turns, landings or bends in your staircase. A straight stairlift only runs along a single line.
How fast is the Stairfriend 23?
Savaria lists 20 ft/min on straight sections and 12 ft/min through the curves. Maximum travel is 84 ft.
What is the weight limit?
The standard rating is 300 lb, with 350 lb available as an option. We confirm the rating for your configuration on the quote.
Can I use the Stairfriend 23 outdoors?
Outdoor use is not listed on Savaria’s page for this model. If your stairs are outside, ask us about the Handicare 4000, which is rated for outdoor use in moderate climates.
Can you measure my stairs for free?
Yes. A technician measures the staircase in person and quotes the lift after the visit. A curved rail is custom, so we do not give a price over the phone.
