Savaria Pegasus Inclined Platform Lift in San Diego & Orange County, CA
Built for Long Runs and Outdoor Stairs
The Savaria Pegasus: an inclined platform lift for long runs
The Savaria Pegasus is an inclined platform lift built for longer and more demanding runs than the Delta. A platform rides a rail along the staircase, carries a person seated in a wheelchair or scooter, and folds when it is not in use. Savaria rates it for 660 pounds (330 pounds with the folding seat), an incline of 20 to 45 degrees (up to 55 degrees for residential use), travel from 8 inches to 164 feet, and speeds of 20 to 30 feet per minute.
It is listed for indoor and outdoor use, with stainless rails for outdoor runs. That makes it a candidate for the long exterior stairs that connect street, driveway and house on hillside lots across San Diego and Orange County, and for interior stair runs that are too long for a lighter lift. Advantage Elevator is a Savaria Elite dealer and a licensed California elevator contractor, CSLB C-11 #1027832. We measure, quote, install and service the Pegasus from our Carlsbad and Costa Mesa offices. Pricing is quoted after a free in-home measure.

Pegasus or Delta?
The Delta is rated 550 pounds (660 optional), runs up to 80 feet, and suits a typical flight of indoor or outdoor stairs. The Pegasus is rated 660 pounds, runs up to 164 feet, is faster, and is offered with outdoor stainless rails. Choose the Delta for a standard residential flight and the Pegasus when the run is long, the load is higher, or the stair is exposed to the weather for most of its length.
A very long outdoor stair is also the place to ask whether a vertical lift or a small elevator at a different point on the property would be simpler. We will walk the property and compare options. Whether a stair with turns or intermediate landings can be fitted is confirmed on a site survey and in Savaria’s planning guide; we do not assume it from a brochure. If the rider can transfer to a seat, a stairlift may also work.
Where the Pegasus fits Southern California homes
Hillside lots. In La Jolla, Rancho Santa Fe, Fallbrook, Laguna Beach and Coto de Caza, the house often sits well above the street, and the route in is a stair of many steps. A long inclined lift can turn that into a usable entry.
Coastal stairs. Bluff-side homes in Encinitas, Solana Beach and Dana Point often have long stairs from the street to the front door or down to a patio. Stainless rails help in salt air, and we still plan a cover and a short inspection interval.
Terraced properties. Large lots with a pool or guest unit below the house can have a series of stair runs between levels.
Interior long runs. A tall, open stair in a custom home can exceed what a lighter lift handles.
We do not quote a run before we have walked it, and we tell you plainly if a different solution would serve you better.
Installation, permits and service
We measure every flight, the incline, the stair width, the landings and the footing for the rail. For an exterior run we check drainage, lighting and where power and charging will come from. We then give you a written quote.
We coordinate the building permit with your city and schedule the inspection. We do not promise a permit outcome. We install from Carlsbad in San Diego County and from Costa Mesa in Orange County.
Our maintenance plan covers inspection and safety testing. Outdoor lifts and coastal installs benefit from a shorter interval between visits. For a breakdown, call (833) 865-7887 any hour.
