Home Elevator Repair in Orange County, CA
24/7 Emergency Service From Costa Mesa
Orange County home elevator repair, dispatched from Costa Mesa
When a home elevator stops between floors in Newport Coast, won’t level in a Laguna Beach hillside home, or throws a fault code in a Yorba Linda two-story, you need a technician who can be there today and who knows your brand. Advantage Elevator runs its Orange County service from 2942 Century Place in Costa Mesa, which puts a factory-trained technician within about 30 minutes of most of the county, from Huntington Beach to Mission Viejo and up through Anaheim Hills.
We repair residential elevators of every major brand, not just the Savaria units we install. That matters in Orange County, where a large share of home elevators were put in between the late 1990s and 2010 by companies that no longer exist. Our technicians carry parts for the common failures on those older cable-drum, hydraulic and chain-drive units and can usually get you moving on the first visit.

What an Orange County repair visit looks like
You call (714) 905-5092 and talk to a person. We ask for the brand if you know it, a description of the problem, and whether anyone is in the car. Entrapments and elevators stuck with a rider go to the top of the board.
The technician arrives in a stocked truck, runs the elevator through its failure, and checks the safety circuit, the drive, the doors and the leveling. You get a plain explanation of what failed and a written quote before any repair work starts. Routine repairs are done the same visit. If a part has to come from the factory, we tell you the lead time and get the elevator safely out of service in the meantime.
Every repair ends with a test ride and a check of the battery-backup lowering system, which is the feature that lets you ride to the nearest floor and exit during a power outage. Those outages are a fact of life in Orange County’s wildfire-season Public Safety Power Shutoffs, so we make sure that system actually works before we leave.
Why Orange County elevators fail the way they do
Orange County is unusually hard on home elevators for three reasons.
Coastal air. Homes in Corona del Mar, Balboa Island, Laguna Beach, Dana Point and Huntington Harbour sit in salt-laden, humid air year-round. We see corroded door interlock contacts, pitted relay points and rust on guide rails and pit equipment far earlier than in inland homes. If your elevator lives within a mile of the water, the door and safety contacts should be cleaned and checked every six months, not every year.
Hillside and multi-level floor plans. Laguna Beach, Newport Coast, Anaheim Hills, Coto de Caza and the canyon neighborhoods of Laguna Niguel are full of three- and four-stop elevators serving split-level homes. More stops mean more doors, more interlocks and more leveling adjustments. Those elevators also tend to be the ones a family depends on most, because the alternative is three flights of stairs.
Age. A lot of Orange County’s custom homes were built or remodeled between 1995 and 2008, and the elevators went in at the same time. Many were installed by dealers who have since closed. Twenty-plus-year-old hydraulic valves, winding-drum cables and early solid-state controllers are now reaching the end of their life all at once. We service those orphaned brands and can modernize them without replacing the whole elevator.
Brands we repair in Orange County
We are a Savaria Elite dealer, but roughly half the repair calls we take in Orange County are for other makes. Our technicians are trained and parts-stocked for Savaria, Concord and Conquest (now Savaria), ThyssenKrupp LEV and Porch Lift, Waupaca, Cemco, Custom Elevator, REI, ECL, Fox Valley, Rocky Mountain, Inclinator, Stellavator, EECO and Stiltz, plus Cambridge Elevating. If your cab has custom millwork and you are not sure what is behind it, our brand identification guide shows where every manufacturer hides its nameplate.

Repair or replace? An honest answer
Most of the time, repair. A well-built residential elevator has a 25-plus-year frame life. What wears out is the drive, the controller, the door operators and the cab finishes, and each of those can be replaced individually. We recommend a full replacement only when the hoistway itself no longer meets code, when the manufacturer and every aftermarket source for parts has disappeared, or when the cost of bringing an old unit up to safe operation approaches the cost of a new one.
If your elevator is older and you are weighing the options, our elevator modernization page explains what a controller, drive and door upgrade costs compared with a new installation.
Frequently Asked Questions
How fast can you get to my home in Orange County?
Emergency calls with someone in the car are dispatched immediately, day or night. For a non-emergency breakdown we can typically have a technician at your home the same or next business day from our Costa Mesa office.
Do you repair brands other than Savaria?
Yes. We service every major residential elevator brand sold in Southern California, including orphaned brands whose original dealers have closed. If we have not seen your brand before, we will tell you up front.
What does an elevator repair cost in Orange County?
A diagnostic service call is a flat fee, and you get a written quote for any repair before work begins. Simple fixes such as a door switch, a relay or a leveling adjustment are usually completed within the service call. Larger repairs such as a controller or hydraulic pump replacement are quoted separately. Maintenance plan customers receive a reduced service rate and priority scheduling.
My elevator works but makes a new noise. Should I call?
Yes. A new grinding, clicking or squealing sound on a residential elevator almost always means a bearing, chain, cable or door track is wearing. Catching it early is far cheaper than the failure that follows.
Do you offer a maintenance plan after the repair?
We do. Our annual and bi-annual maintenance plans include a full inspection, safety-device testing and priority scheduling, and they satisfy the maintenance requirement in most manufacturer warranties. See the elevator maintenance plan page for details.
