Savaria Delta Inclined Platform Lift in San Diego & Orange County, CA
A Wheelchair Platform That Follows the Stairs
The Savaria Delta: a wheelchair platform that rides the staircase
The Savaria Delta is an inclined platform lift. A flat platform rides on a rail mounted along a staircase, carries a person seated in a wheelchair or scooter up or down the flight, and folds against the wall when it is not in use. It is rated for 550 pounds (660 pounds optional in the USA, and 330 pounds with the folding seat), and it can run on stairs at an angle of 20 to 45 degrees.
The Delta is the answer when the staircase is the only route and a vertical lift will not fit. That describes many split-level houses and many outdoor stairs on sloped lots in San Diego and Orange County. We are a Savaria Elite dealer and a licensed California elevator contractor, CSLB C-11 #1027832. We measure, quote, install and service the Delta from our Carlsbad and Costa Mesa offices. Pricing is quoted after a free in-home measure of the stair.

Savaria lists a 36-month parts warranty across its platform lifts, through the local dealer, with regular maintenance required. Confirm the Delta term on the spec sheet when you order. Platform size and fold dimensions matter on a narrow stair, so we check your stair width and the chair or scooter before you decide.
Delta or a vertical lift?
If the rise is a single fixed height at an entry or a garage, a V-1504 or a Multilift goes straight up with a smaller footprint. If the route is a flight of stairs, with no room at the top for a vertical lift to land, the Delta is the better fit.
If the stairs turn, have intermediate landings or run very long, look at the Pegasus, which Savaria builds for longer runs. If the rider can transfer to a seat, a stairlift is a simpler and less expensive option. If more than one level is involved, we will compare an elevator with you.
Where the Delta fits Southern California homes
Split-level houses from the 1970s. Across Escondido, Poway, Rancho Bernardo, Mission Viejo and Yorba Linda, a half-flight between the entry and the living level is common. A straight run of stair there is the classic Delta job.
Hillside entries. Homes in La Jolla, Laguna Beach and Anaheim Hills often reach the front door by a stair from the street or the driveway. An outdoor Delta in a moderate climate can serve that, with a cover and a battery check on the maintenance schedule.
Garage-to-house stairs. A short stair from the garage to the kitchen is a straightforward install.
Pool decks and terraced yards. A stair between yard levels can carry a Delta, as long as the stair is straight and has solid footing for the rail.
Accessory units. A guest unit above a garage often has an exterior stair. A Delta can make it usable.
Salt air is hard on exposed metal near the coast. For outdoor installs we talk about protection and an inspection schedule at the measure.
Installation, permits and service
We measure the stair length, the incline, the width and the landings at both ends. We note any rail posts, doors or railings that will need to move, and we look at where the charging outlet will go. We then give you a written quote.
We coordinate the building permit with your city and schedule the inspection. We do not promise a permit outcome. We install from Carlsbad for San Diego County and from Costa Mesa for Orange County.
A battery-powered lift needs a charged battery and a clean rail. Our maintenance plan covers inspection and safety testing, and regular maintenance keeps the lift in warranty. For a breakdown, call (833) 865-7887 any hour.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is an inclined platform lift different from a stairlift?
A stairlift carries a person on a seat. An inclined platform lift carries a person seated in a wheelchair or scooter on a flat platform. The Delta folds against the wall when not in use.
How long a stair can the Delta handle?
Savaria lists up to 80 feet of travel at an incline of 20 to 45 degrees. We confirm the figures on your own stair after a measure.
Can the Delta be installed outdoors?
Savaria lists it for indoor use and for outdoor use in moderate climates. We plan protection and inspections around your location, especially near the coast.
Does it work in a power outage?
The Delta runs on a 24-volt battery that charges from a 120-volt outlet, so it can keep running when the power is out. Keep the battery on its charger.
What chair or scooter does it carry?
Platform sizes run from about 26.5 by 36 inches to 30.5 by 49.25 inches, and the rated load is 550 pounds, or 660 pounds optional. We check your chair or scooter against the platform at the measure.
