ThyssenKrupp Porch-Lift Service & Repair in San Diego & Orange County
Vertical Platform Lift Repair
Repairing a ThyssenKrupp Porch-Lift in Southern California
A Porch-Lift is not a home elevator. It is a vertical platform lift, an open or enclosed platform that carries a person, often in a wheelchair, up a short change of level such as a porch, entry or raised floor. If yours stopped working, the platform will not come down, or the gate or door will not latch, we can diagnose it and repair it.

What a Porch-Lift is and who made it
The Porch-Lift was made by ThyssenKrupp Access, the same company that made the LEV home elevator. In the federal recall notice from 2022 the company appears as TK Access Solutions Corp. of Grandview, Missouri. Product sheets list Porch-Lift as a vertical platform lift, with several model variants. We found no notice that the product line has been discontinued, but we could not confirm today’s production status either.
A vertical platform lift differs from a home elevator in important ways. It moves a platform, not an enclosed car in a hoistway. It is typically used for short rises, and it is often installed outdoors or at an entry. The rules that apply to the two products are not the same.
Safety notice: how the TK Access recall relates to Porch-Lifts
The September 14, 2022 federal settlement recall covered ThyssenKrupp Access home elevators: Chaparral, Destiny, LEV, LEV II, LEV II Builder, Rise, Volant, Windsor, Independence and Flexi-Lift. Porch-Lift is not among the models named in the notice. The hazard in that recall was a gap between the hoistway door and the car door or gate in which a young child could become trapped.
If you are not sure whether your lift is a Porch-Lift or one of the recalled elevators, our technician will tell you on the first visit. Whatever the product, we recommend keeping young children away from any lift while it moves, and we check gates, doors and guarding on every visit.
Parts for Porch-Lifts
We cannot promise parts we have not confirmed. TK Access Solutions in Grandview, Missouri is the place to start for factory parts. Independent suppliers also sell new-old-stock, used and fabricated parts for ThyssenKrupp Access products, and we will say which kind a quote uses. Common wear items such as switches, relays, batteries and gate hardware are generally easier to source than a discontinued drive component.
What we check on a Porch-Lift service visit
A platform lift has fewer parts than an elevator, but every one of them matters, because there is no enclosed car around the rider. On a visit we work through the same list each time.
- Gates and doors: the latch, the interlock or switch that proves the gate is closed, and the condition of any guarding around the platform.
- Controls and emergency stop: the call and send buttons, the stop button and any alarm.
- Drive and platform: the movement of the platform through its full travel, listening for noise, binding or hesitation, and looking at the supports.
- Power: the supply and, if the lift has one, the battery backup.
- Weather exposure: corrosion on contacts and fasteners, damaged seals and water in the electrical enclosures.
We explain what we find in plain language and put any repair in a written quote before work starts. San Diego and Orange County lifts near the coast see salt air year-round, and we advise on how often a lift in that setting should be looked at.
Repair, maintenance and replacement
Most Porch-Lift problems are repairs, not replacements. We diagnose, quote in writing, and test the lift through a full cycle. A maintenance plan, described on our maintenance plan page, is worth having on a lift that sits outdoors, because weather is the main cause of failure.
If the lift is beyond economical repair, we can quote a replacement platform lift or, if the layout allows, other options. See our wheelchair lift page. We do not quote prices for wheelchair lifts until we have measured the site.
Nameplate and booking
Federal sources do not give a nameplate location for Porch-Lifts, so we will not guess. Our technician locates the data plate on the first visit. Our brand identification guide covers general places to look. Call (833) 865-7887 or use online booking. Say so first if someone is stuck on the platform.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a Porch-Lift the same as a home elevator?
No. A Porch-Lift is a vertical platform lift that carries a person over a short rise. A home elevator is an enclosed car in a hoistway serving whole floors. Different products, different rules.
Is my Porch-Lift part of the TK Access recall?
The 2022 recall named ThyssenKrupp Access home elevators, and Porch-Lift is not among the models listed. If you are unsure which product you have, our technician will identify it on the first visit.
Can you get parts for an older Porch-Lift?
Sometimes. We check the manufacturer first, then independent suppliers of new-old-stock, used or fabricated parts, and we tell you which kind a quote uses.
My lift is outdoors and stopped after rain. Why?
Moisture and corrosion in switches, contacts and connectors are the usual cause. It is usually a repair, not a replacement.
Do you also install new wheelchair lifts?
Yes. See our San Diego and Orange County wheelchair lift pages. We quote after a free in-home measure.
